The Timeline
OUR 60-DAY ROADMAP
With Girmay assuming office on November 25th, we are working a tight timeline to develop the team and policy priorities to ensure his new administration starts with strong footing and clear, actionable steps to pursue.
Phase 1
FULL TRANSITION KICKOFF
November 13th
The full transition committee will meet to set a charter with shared goals that will outline the transition process. Committee members will also break into the campaign's framework four subcommittees to begin laying out objectives.
Phase 2
SUBCOMMITTEE WORKING SESSIONS
November 17th – December 8th
Each subcommittee will meet during this period and will hold focused discussions to develop key budget and policy recommendations. Deliverables will be prepared for the Executive-elect.
Phase 3
FINAL REPORT & RECOMMENDATIONS
Week of December 12th
Subcommittees will submit their final reports as the Transition Committee concludes its work. Findings will inform the launch of the new administration.
Phase 4
OFFICIAL START OF ADMINISTRATION
November 25th - January 5th
Girmay Zahilay is sworn in as the seventh King County Executive on November 25th, and most new hires begin their official work starting on January 5th, 2026.
